Notes by RWF:

We easily forget what an immense luxury we enjoy, to have music from famous orchestras and singers in our own homes, as and when we want it. Earlier, listeners required the patronage of some organization or of a rich sponsor to gather musicians, waited on the schedule of live performances, needed to reside or visit within railroad or buggy proximity to theaters, and hoped for good weather for traveling to a theater; as well as other factors.

The Victor phonograph (that word doesn't appear in the advertisement) and records helped bring that luxury of personal music listening to the world.
